What is Illustrator?
Illustrator is a program used to design vector graphics to be used in any number of different applications. It's often used to create logos for companies because vector graphics can be infinitely expanded without any distortion. In IDEA we used idea to create a key-chain that was then cut out using a laser. We also used it to cut our names out of vinyl using a vinyl cutter.
In Summary
The main things I learned during this unit was not only how to use Illustrator itself but also how to format the vector graphics so that they could be cut out by a laser engraver/cutter. I also learned how to properly set up the laser so that there would be as little wasted material as possible. Later I learned how to use Illustrator in conjunction with the vinyl cutter as well as how to apply the vinyl to another item.
