What is Inventor?
AutoDesk Inventor is a 3-D modeling software that allows the user to translate 2-D sketches, drawn using various tools including line and circle tools, into 3-D part drawings. Both additive and subtractive modeling methods can be used within Inventor to get the desired part. There are 4 different file types within Inventor: ipt files which are the 3-D parts themselves, .iam files which are assemblies of several parts together, .idw files which are 2-D annotated part drawings and finally .ipn files which show how parts fit together in the format of a presentation.

In Summary
The main thing I learned in this introduction to Inventor/3-D printing unit was how to translate a 3-D
model made in Inventor into a 3-D printed object. While I was already very familiar with Inventor from previous PLTW courses, I did not know how to use the MakerBot software in conjunction with Inventor.
